Stephen Kimber – Professor, Narrative Non-Fiction

Faculty Member, School of Journalism

Stephen Kimber is the Rogers Communications Chair in Journalism at the University of King’s College, where he has taught since 1983. From 1996 until 2003 he was Director of the King’s College School of Journalism.   He is the author of eight books–a novel and seven works of nonfiction. He is an award-winning writer, editor and broadcaster, and his writing has appeared in almost all major Canadian magazines and newspapers. As a broadcaster, he has been an Ottawa-based current affairs producer for the CTV Television Network and a producer, writer, story editor and host for numerous CBC television and radio programs. Between 1985 and 2002, he was a weekly political and general interest columnist for the Daily News in Halifax, Canada. His is currently Senior Features Writer for The Coast, a Halifax alternative weekly.

Mr. Kimber holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College in Baltimore. He and his wife, television and film costume designer Jeanie Kimber, live in Halifax. They have three adult children, all graduates of King’s.
