Ivey Needs your Support for The Annual Charity Handbag Auction – April 19, 2012

Dear Alumni and Friends,

Ivey is doing it again! After raising 150,000 HKD last year, we are bringing back the Charity Handbag Auction. This year, with support from Ivey Hong Kong, the event will be organized by the Rotary Club Kowloon Golden Mile.

Here is how you can help:

-> Join the FUN on April 19th where we socialize and auction the handbags
-> Donate any branded, pre-loved or new quality handbags by contacting Natalie Chan nchan@ivey.com.hk
-> Forward this e-mail to your friends to join the event
-> Alternatively, if you want to donate to the event by cheque, contact Natalie Chan nchan@ivey.com.hk. 100% of your donation will go to charity and we are happy to issue a tax receipt.

Please RSVP for yourself and guests, as seats are limited.  RSVP to hkgsenator@yahoo.com.
The evening begins with a preview of the bags so you can see on which you would like to bid, and the auction begins with an energetic crowd of bidders hoping to get their favorites.

The proceeds of the auction will benefit these charities:
*
Changing Young Lives (Local HK Charity, helping underprivileged children by providing learning activities)
*Moonlight Foundation Nepal (providing access to basic education for orphans)

Sincere thanks for your effort, help and contribution to this event.  We truly rely on your support.

HKIAA Event Recap – Happy Hour at La Piola Hosted by HK-EMBA 2010

Last Friday’s monthly Happy Hour at ‘La Piola’ was a great evening with over 40 Ivey alumni present to see and reconnect with old friends and make new contacts.   We have attached a few of the pictures from the event below, and more photos will be posted on the Ivey Alumni Association -Hong Kong Facebook page  (“Like” the page to receive IAA-HK updates via Facebook).
‘La Piola’ offered a great range of delicious canapés that we enjoyed over glass(es) of wine and beer while engaging in interesting conversations with a myriad of Ivey Alum, including MBA, EMBA, and HBA students.  We thank the Class of 2010 and ‘La Piola’ for being excellent hosts for the first Happy Hour evening this year. Some people managed to drop by for one drink while others lasted the whole night, when we wrapped up at 2am, ensuring that the Happy Hour easily became Happy Hours. We eagerly await the next end-of-month Happy Hour to be hosted by the Class of 2009 on March 30, 2012, so SAVE THE DATE and we hope to see you there for another enjoyable evening with your Ivey Classmates.

An Evening with the Creator of Angel’s Gate – February 15th 2012

REGISTER TODAY!

The Event:

The HK Ivey Alumni Association invites  you to join, Ash Singh, one of Ivey’s most dynamic grads, as he takes us behind  the scenes and tells us about the making of “The Angel’s Gate” Asia’s first  360-degree TV program for Entrepreneurs.

Ash will give us an overview about the program and how he has incorporated the latest technologies and social media  tools to create a new TV platform for entrepreneurs.  To get on the program entrepreneurs leverage their social media networks to gain enough votes and interest to have a chance to appear before a panel of Angel investors who decide whether to invest in their start up venture or not.  There are also great opportunities for the audience and sponsors to participate in the program before, during and after it airs.

This will be a fun and interesting evening for all Ivey Alumni and especially those who would like to learn more about how to leverage traditional and  social media to grow their own brand.  As well, this will be an ideal opportunity for all Ivey entrepreneurs who would also like to appear on future episodes of “The Angel’s Gate.”

Ash will also show us a preview of the first episodes of the program and you can watch a trailer of “The Angel’s Gate” by clicking on the link here.

Hong Kong & IveyBC Whistler Ski Day!

Dear Gordon (and the Ivey Hong Kong alumni network),

Per our communications a while back, we have finally managed to pin down all of the details and get the ski trip launched.  As you can see, there are quite a few moving parts and our Project Manager, Don Brett, has managed to tentatively secure the attendance of Whistler Blackcomb’s CEO as our apres-ski gues speaker.

Please feel free to circulate our event amongst the Ivey Alumni in Asia; this can be our first attempt at cross-Pacific alumni networking.
With respect to the skiing part, the major benefit to anyone contemplating attendance would be guidance by the ski pros, which will make the skiing that much better for those unfamiliar with the mountain.

Regards,
Ambrose Sung, IAABC Chapter President

IveyBC’s Whistler Ski Day

Saturday March 31, 2012

Join us in Whistler on Saturday March 31st for a thrilling, fun-filled day of skiing, snowboarding and socializing with your fellow BC Ivey alumni.  Not  into schussing down the slopes?  Whistler offers a variety of other invigorating activities and you can still join us for drinks at the après-ski, presentation, and group dinner.

Out-of-town Ivey Alumni welcome; significant others and families invited.
Participate in as many (or as few) of our planned activities as you wish.

SKIING / SNOWBOARDING – Meet at 9:15 am
Here’s your chance to experience the best skiing that Whistler and Blackcomb have to offer, in small groups guided by a pro.  Even if you are already an advanced skier/ boarder, your guide will take you to secluded, untouched areas that you would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience–that’s right, we’re talking about the freshest powder on the mountain.  On top of that, you will also receive lift line priority and first-class instruction during the day.

Participants should be of intermediate skill (comfortable on blue runs) or better.

>>>  Cost:  $120 + HST, lift pass not included

APRÈS-SKI & PRESENTATION
– 3:30 to 6 pm, presentation at 4 pm

After a long day on the slopes, there’s nothing like a little “après-ski” to help soothe those tired, aching muscles.  So come, sit back, and relax over drinks in the FireRock Lounge at the Westin Hotel as we talk about the day and recover from all that vigorous exercise.  A leading Whistler personality will be on hand to make an informal presentation about the current business environment at the mountain, followed by a group discussion.

>>>  Cost:  All refreshments are for your own account

DINNER
– 7 pm

What better way to top a memorable day on the mountain than with a delicious, multi-course prix fixe dinner from Ka-ze, Whistler’s renowned Japanese restaurant.  Mmmm, this is one dining experience you definitely don’t want to miss!

>>>  Cost:  $60 + HST per person, all inclusive
(Dietary restrictions will be accommodated)

ACCOMMODATION
