Supporter Program

THE 2012/2013 IAAT SUPPORTER PROGRAM HAS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED!

The IAAT has been providing alumni in the GTA with networking and professional events over the past few decades.

These events strengthen the Ivey connection and help build the Ivey brand for the benefit of alumni.

In 2010, the Toronto Chapter of the Ivey Alumni Association introduced a brand new program to help us serve our Alumni better. We named it our "Supporter Program" and it has exceeded our expectations based on all metrics.

The Supporter Advantage
As an Ivey Alumni you have the choice of signing up as a supporter for the coming year.  Some of the benefits of being a supporter are:

  • SUPPORTER of Toronto’s Ivey Alumni community
  • DISCOUNTED event pricing (typically 20% to 40% off regular price)
  • Access to EXCLUSIVE Supporter only events
  • INCLUSION and ACCESS to IAAT’s Supporter Directory – build contacts, expand networks, become involved!
  • PRIORITY access to all IAAT events
  • Other benefits such as priority access to keynote speakers at events, volunteer opportunities at Ivey Alumni Association Toronto Chapter, etc.

“Supporter Program”
The objective of this program is to create a core group of Ivey Alumni that will assist the chapter in raising the profile and interest in events organized throughout the year. The supporters are considered an extension of the chapter volunteers and board members who are helping us serve the Ivey Alumni community.

Event planning for the 2012/2013 season is underway. We’ll ensure you are kept informed of any developments. In the meantime please sign-up or renew your IAAT Supporter status!

100% of Supporter dues gathered are used to fund more and better programs and services in the GTA. As a volunteer organization, the IAAT does not seek to accumulate surpluses, and sources of funding are used for in-year programming. Additional information is available on the Ivey Alumni Association website or you can email your questions to Haleel Sarwar at supporters@IAAT.ca.

With your support, the volunteers of the IAAT look forward to delivering even more benefits and services in the future!

Q&A

1. What is the rationale for introducing the Supporter program?

Ivey alumni tell us they expect their local chapters to organize interesting events which provide an opportunity for alumni to connect with one another. Research has also shown that Ivey alumni feel more affiliation with the Ivey community the more frequently they attend events. Given that Toronto has the largest concentration of Ivey alumni, there are high expectations of the IAAT in terms of the number, range and quality of events. The Supporter program will allow the IAAT to:
(A) Raise both the connectivity and the profile of the Ivey community in the GTA by creating and growing a core group of alumni who are interested in staying connected
(B) Continue to serve all Ivey alumni even if they choose not to opt into the program, as most events will continue to be open to all alumni

2. Do other North America business school alumni associations offer similar programs?

Yes. Wharton, Harvard and INSEAD, for example, all have a paid membership program in their hub cities. Some have tiered pricing of up to over $1000/year.

3. Do other Ivey Alumni chapters operate similar programs?

Yes. The Ivey BC chapter has done this for more than 5 years, and as a result is now one of the strongest chapters in the Ivey alumni network.

4. Could the 2011-12 event calendar change?

It is possible as we confirm speakers and topics. While we put into a lot of effort to ensure that these events are carried out as planned, circumstances sometimes force us to change event timing, speakers or even the subject.

5. Are 2-year and 3-year terms available?

Not at this point. We will re-evaluate this option next year.

6. Is the membership due tax deductible?

Unfortunately not as the IAAT is not a registered charity.

7. Will you remind me to renew?

Yes, we will send email reminders regarding 2011-12 supporter dues. Please always make sure to update your LEAF email on the alumni portal so we always have your contact info.

8. Will you share my personal info?

No. However, we are considering creating a Supporters’ roster in 2011, and you can opt in or out. We will NOT share your contact info in any other way.

9. How do I become an IAAT volunteer?

Please register your interest on our website by filling in the volunteer form: click here. The IAAT keeps a database of volunteers and we will reach out to you as volunteer needs are identified.

10. Who do I contact for questions about becoming a Supporter?

Please email supporters@IAAT.ca. Our volunteers will be happy to answer them.

If your questions are not related to becoming a Supporter, please email ivey@funnel.ca, or call us at 416-979-2046. You can also find a lot of information on this website.
