Mission
Our 8th annual event – in Toronto – will be open to the entire Canadian innovation and technology ecosystem. Our vision is to build the Ivey Venture Forum into a world-class event that promotes collaboration, celebrates new ventures, and generates thought-leadership on how Canada can become the world’s leading innovation economy.

Attendees/Speakers 
This year’s event will host hundreds of attendees and 20 high calibre panelists/speakers from across Toronto/Canada’s innovation ecosystem — including start-ups, scale ups, venture capital investors, corporate partners, government partners, and other key stakeholders.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion
Our goal for this event is gender parity at all levels, from speakers/panelists to attendees. We will work with ecosystem partners to achieve broader goals of diversity and inclusion.

Our largest event of the year will feature high calibre panels of venture capital and angel capital investors, government officials, start-ups, scale ups, corporate partners and industry stakeholders on:

  • Building Global Companies in Canada
  • Building Canada’s Innovation Ecosystem
  • Building Companies with Global Impact

Speaker Announcements

  Bilal Khan is the founding Chief Executive Officer of OneEleven, a scaleup innovation hub focused on helping Canada’s most promising, high-growth startups build their businesses and scale their operations. OneEleven is a unique partnership between industry, venture capital, government and academia with the objective of making Canada a global leader in the innovation economy. Bilal was recently named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.
 

Stephanie Choo is a Partner and Managing Director at Portag3 Ventures. She leads new fintech investments for the fund -- in the wealth management, banking and insurance verticals. Prior to joining Portag3, she helped the world’s leading banks and insurance companies build and launch innovative fintech products from the ground-up, as a Fintech Lead at BCG Digital Ventures. Prior to that, she led operations for an early stage payments startup. Stephanie was also a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, focused on technology and digital strategies in the retail banking, wealth management and asset management spaces. 

Peter Misek is a partner in the BDC IT Venture Fund, based in Toronto. He comes with over 14 years of venture capital experience as an Advisor/ Venture Partner for DN Capital including direct involvement in 2 unicorns. BDC IT Venture Fund manages over $300 million in venture capital investments across Canada in emerging and mid-stage Internet, mobile and enterprise companies.

 

Alyssa Furtado, Co-Founder, Ratehub Inc. Alyssa studied business and math at Queen’s University, before going into management consulting for two years. She left the corporate world in 2009, launched Ratehub.ca on Jan. 1, 2010 and hasn’t looked back since. Passionate about building amazing products that help Canadians make smart financial decisions, Alyssa uses her expertise in SEO to drive people to the site. She empowers the team to do their best work, which is a large part of what makes the company culture so great. Family, friends, travelling and kiting are important to her, and she is happiest when all four are combined.

 

Robert Antoniades, General Partner and Co-Founder at Information Venture Partners. Robert has over 18 years of venture capital and has made investments in financial services software, internet service providers, enterprise and internet software, e-healthcare, wireless application development, security products, optical networking and semiconductor companies, among others. Information Venture Partners is a Toronto-based venture capital firm that invests in start-ups run by committed founders tackling big issues with a focus on FinTech and Enterprise SaaS. 

 

Carolyn Jarvis, Chief Investigative Correspondent, Global News. Carolyn Jarvis has spent more than a decade reporting and chasing stories across the country for Global News. After several postings with the network from Vancouver to Ottawa, Jarvis moved to Toronto in 2011 to work with the current affairs division full time as 16X9′s Chief Correspondent. Her work, ranging from investigative to feature reporting, has won numerous awards and acclaim. Most recently, 16X9 won the esteemed Canadian Screen Award for Best News or Information Series.
