Sumit Oberai co-leads RBC's Digital organization. He is responsible for the technology organization that delivers online banking, mobile banking, loyalty and rewards, discount brokerage, robo advisor, digital payments, and new digital product launches for Personal & Commercial Banking. Additionally responsible for RBC's API technology platform including developer.rbc.com and the RBC Ventures technology team. Member of the Technology & Operations and Personal & Commercial Banking operating committees.

Sumit began his career as a software developer at Nortel Networks. Prior to joining RBC in 2016, Sumit spent 10 years at Indigo Books & Music. His last role was Chief Information Officer & Executive Vice President of Loyalty where he was responsible for all technology functions as well as Indigo’s loyalty & customer intelligence programs. Prior to Indigo, Sumit led engineering organizations at venture backed companies, DocSpace and Eloqua which each were acquired for over $500MM CAD, and he worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company. He also sat on Visa Canada’s Advisory Board.

Sumit holds an MBA from INSEAD in France, a M. Eng. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a B. Eng. in Mathematics & Engineering from Queens University.
